Being a fan of all things scandi, I’ve always loved the idea of a retreat, a summerhouse away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, where my family can go to escape and recharge. As editor of Simply Scandi magazine, I’ve had the privilege to feature many such huts and hideaways, cottages and cabins since we launched three years ago, and they’ve always given me so many ideas: from how to make the most of a small space, or creating that sense of inside/outside living, to calming colour schemes, or how we can slow things down and appreciate what we have around us when we take ourselves out of our daily lives and homes. So what better subject for our first bookazine than Scandi retreats?

Inside this rather delightful publication – which I’ve simply loved working on – you’ll find places by the sea, retreats in the forest, and more urban escapes. Of course, while we might live different lifestyles to our Scandinavian neighbours, the idea of a retreat to ‘borrow’ is something we are all familiar with, so we’ve also included places to stay across the UK and Scandinavia – all chosen for their location as well as their Scandi style credentials, because we always want to be inspired!
