Inside our Vol 23 Autumn magazine
Your guide to the hygge season
As editor of Simply Scandi, I often challenge myself to see how many times I can get the word 'Scandi' on the cover – then what I can swap it for (I really need to get out more on press week!). But this issue brought a different word challenge – and one I know you love too – 'hygge'. Note, it's on the cover just the once! For a work with no literal translation in English, it's one that I love using at this time of year. To me, it's a mood or a state of mind; it's about surrounding yourself with the things that make life special, whether that's certain people, a sense of security or ways to make the most out of life, as well as light, warmth, texture and good food. And we've plenty of them all in this issue.
Take our reader homes, which share different ways of building the Scandi dream – from Annemarie's cosy Danish home with its own fika-inspired café for visitors to Pernille's home-meets-grow-her-own-garden-dream, they all have the hygge vibes. We also visit one of our Scandi favourites from the world of social media – Rebecca Lawson's London home, which features in her second book, co-written and styled with Reena Simon. Again, the friendship the duo have built over a shared love of Scandi living and design is another example of hygge in real life.
There's plenty more to discover in this issue – I'll leave you to do so at your own pace, whether that's to sit and read it all in one go, or savour as you go through the season. Until next time,

Editor, Simply Scandi
