How to 'winter' like a Scandi

Time to get cosy with our Winter issue of Simply Scandi, as we get ready to enjoy our Scandi homes and prepare for the seasons to change. I am at my happiest layering – whether that's chunky knits for me to wear, or fluffy blankets for me to casually dot around my home ready for me/cats/daughter to snuggle under. I even love to layer my dining table at this time of year, as I invite friends and family over for something… well from the 'comfort food' section of my growing pile of Scandi cookbooks.

Talking of gatherings, we’ve a new feature this issue, where we look at how the dining table shapes a Scandi home (just in time for Christmas). I also loved finding out more about the Finnish concept of kotoisa with Susanna Laiho Hawkins, which loosely means ‘cosy’ or ‘homely’ – trust me, it’s a must-read (as is her new book!). Likewise, Helen Russell will certainly make you smile (I genuinely get so excited when her feature pops into my inbox!). This time, she’s chatting all things ‘wintering’, and how the Danes seem to actually enjoy the coldest months – cake and coffee, hygge and… cold-water swimming all seem to help! Maybe I should take my friend Emma up on her offer of a few laps around our local lake (why did I not go when she asked me in the summer?!)…
