A pretty partnership – Danish artist Anine Cecilie Iversen and John Lewis
Danish artist Anine Cecilie Iversen's exclusive new homeware collaboration with John Lewis was inspired by a Scandinavian retro summer, and it's as pretty as it sounds…
Anine Cecilie Iversen is a self-taught painter, encouraged to be creative from an early age by her art teacher father. He introduced her to watercolours before Anine went on to study a degree in digital concept development, leading to work as a graphic designer. However, in recent years, the Copenhagen-based artist felt a need to pursue and develop her artistic practice and love of painting by hand, and became a full-time artist.

Today, Anine’s romantic floral artwork attracts a worldwide audience, with pieces already stocked in John Lewis (she goes by the name La Poire), but this spring/summer sees a new homeware collaboration – John Lewis x Anine Cecilie Iversen – comprising 118 pieces, each bringing a modern approach to florals thanks to Anine’s signature Scandinavian aesthetic.

The inspiration for the collaboration was “a Scandinavian retro summer”, as Anine describes, and sees the artist take her signature bright harmonious colours, classic patterns and beautiful details and translating these elements across textiles, tableware and lighting.

“This collection reflects all of my summer memories in the illustrations. My family home was surrounded by nature, which I always found so calm and inspiring,” she says. “Working with John Lewis has enabled me to explore a way to transport my designs onto different mediums, which has been a wonderful opportunity.”
