Inside our Vol 18 Summer issue
The start of summer…
Summer in Scandinavia is such a lovely time of year, when inside just seems to head outside. Doors are flung open, furniture gets moved to the terrace, and gardens become that extra room. In our Special, we look at Scandi gardens: the first, belonging to Bettina, looks as if it’s always been there but, in fact, was created in just a few years – it’s a lovely plant-rich retreat. The second is a retreat of a different kind, with a sauna and plunge pool – owners Marlene and Andreas waited 12 years to achieve this dream, but now their garden is a true gem. We also chat to Annika Zetterman, one of Scandinavia’s most influential garden designers, and share 30 outdoor buys.
Talking of gems, we visit three beautiful Scandi homes: first, Emily’s Danish cottage, where neutrals and pretty touches combine effortlessly. Then we head to Yvonne’s cottage on the Norwegian coast for a tale of renovation. Finally, we step inside Katharina’s cosy Danish summerhouse, inspired by its beach setting. I’ve been so inspired by summer living that I’ve shared my ideas for creating a summerhouse look. We’ve also got Scandi foodie favourite Brontë Aurell’s easy smørrebrød recipes – they’re just the thing to tuck into on the terrace.
Enjoy summer – until next time,

Editor, Simply Scandi
