Style secrets Christmas Special 2024 cover home

Getting your home ready for Christmas can be one of the highlights, especially if you have the time to enjoy the process, unwrapping favourite decorations, adding fresh foliage and dressing a beautiful tree

And that is so true for our Christmas Special 2024 cover home star, belonging to Kamilla Heick Hallas-Møller. Her home is a Danish villa built in 1932 in Fredensborg. It's warm and inviting whatever the time of year, but especially so at Christmas. Here are a few of our favourite ideas pulled out in detail…

1. We love the backdrop to her Christmas

Kamilla's home provides an all-white scheme, which allows Christmas to really pop at this time of year. From the freshness of her real Christmas tree to rich foliage used to dress her table and warm highlights dotted around her space, it's full of festive atmosphere while remaining effortless Scandi simple in style. We love how she's avoided the temptation to dress her Silvan PN system shelves with anything festive, avoiding detracting from her beautiful Christmas tree.

2. Her Advent wreath

Scandinavians love an Advent wreath, lighting a candle each Sunday in December. Kamilla's simple display sees four candle holders arranged on a plate and decorated with a dried wreath, in lovely warm shades, from a local florist. The metal candlesticks are from Åbenlys.

3. Kamilla's use of fabric to wrap gifts

Under her beautiful tree, presents are wrapped in white scraps of fabric, which are saved once opened to be used next year. The same offcuts of fabrics were used to make the bows that dress her tree too, giving a calm, cohesive look.

4. The way she's added wreaths at the windows

Against her crisp, white-painted window frames, simple green wreaths of foliage really pop. Kamilla's hung the same wreaths behind her sofa in the living room and above the kitchen sink – it's a great way of allowing Christmas to flow around your home.

5. Her simple, yet whimsical tablescape

When it comes to dressing her Christmas table, Kamilla starts with a white linen tablecloth, which – like her home – provides that elegant Scandi backdrop. She then mixes in family heirlooms, such as the glassware and candleholders, with lots of candles, Bordeaux-coloured eucalyptus, matching cone-like flowers, dried hydrangeas and even colour-co-ordinated fruit.
