Style secrets – Vol 15 cover home

Autumn, a time of cosy and hygge-inspired moments. We love to see how Scandinavians switch up their homes, getting ready for the colder seasons ahead, adding lots of texture, warmth and comfort

And that is so true in our Vol 15 Autumn cover home star, belonging to Tina Grosell. Built in 1903, on the Danish island of Amager in the Øresund, today, it's a rich, inviting home that's reflective of her family. Here are a few of our favourite shots that you won't see in print…

1. That lovely neutral backdrop

Tina opted for two shades of the same paint for her living and dining areas, with the living space painted the lighter. It's the perfect backdrop to a cream fabric sofa, dressed with a happy mix of linen and boucle cushions. The new wooden flooring has been given a cosy layer too, with a wool rug.

2. Those autumnal colours

With a daughter in ceramics, and another who crochets, Tina's home has plenty of gorgeous colours and textures brought in through their own designs and accessories. Shades of amber, russet and ochre are the perfect way to add warmth to a neutral space. Look for pieces of coloured glassware and crockery that you love – and find a space to display, whether that's a tabletop or even a plinth.

3. Tina's statement vase of foliage

Take a tip from Tina and buy just a few pieces of foliage that catch your eye at the florist, rather than a ready-tied bunch. Look for textures and colours that you love and snip to different heights. You can always bulk up your display with a quick foraging trip to your own garden.

4. The fact there's always time for tea (in style)

Treat yourself to a coffee break with your favourite mug (the one that just makes you happy). These are by Tina's daughter, Cille, in lovely warm shades, so true to the palette of her home. Her daughters have recently moved into their own homes, and during our chat Tina shared with us a pondering question: "Will I decorate differentlt now the girls have moved out?" If she does, we know it will still be warm and inviting.

5. The way Tina's soften a dark kitchen

Tin chose a dark brown vinyl finish for her kitchen, teamed with a concrete floor. Yet it's far from moody, thanks to a simple wall shelf that runs the length of her units for display, and plenty of accessories in natural wood.
